It's going to sound strange, but here goes:
I was flipping around the TV dial tonight, happened to see Brad Paisley on a show -- live at the Opry or something. I like Brad Paisley. There, I said it. Anyway, he was singing this song about a letter to himself when he was 17.
I wanted to listen to it, but my daughter was just home from work after a long day and I was listening to her tell me about her day.
But I really wanted to hear the lyrics of this song. My son is 17, graduates from high school this Friday and the lyrics are something I think might relate to him.
Don't know the name of the song, scanned a Song Lyrics site looking for what it could be, but couldn't find it. Can anyone help?

Hmm. I went to high school with the guy and know the family (I confessed this on one of the previous "What famous people do you know?" threads) so if I get a chance I'll ask his dad about it.

In the meantime, his new CD comes out Tuesday -- maybe that song's on it?

I did a quick Google search. The song is called "Letter To Me." Try searching a lyrics site for it once the CD drops Tuesday.

I love Brad Paisley. And to hell with all of you.

Any man who legitimately plays "Little Moments Like That" or "She's Everything" in the course of a relationship would make me melt.

I just assumed everyone hated him, since it's quite the cool thing to rail against new country nowadays.

And by 'to hell with all of you' I mean 'you good sir are full of ****.'

Little Moments is great. Couple good ones from his first CD, "We Danced" and "He Didn't Have To Be."

I didnt do it... In fact I looked for lyrics for huntsie for 15 minutes and found none. Was going to do the same post as lone star but he was quicker.
I might be full of ****, but not in this case...

I love both those. I also like "Mud on the Tires." But "Ticks" might be the stupidest song ever recorded. Ever.

I did the same thing. I too was confused as to why such vitriol was used. I don't have a problem with Brad Paisley. I wouldn't call myself a fan but at least he's more country than someone like Faith Hill or Shania Twain.

I didn't mean "you all" as in you people on this thread.

Jesus. It was meant in the sense of everyone who has killed me for listening to "contemporary country" in the past.

It was "you all" in the sense of the larger board. My apologies.

I also caught the show and this song tonight, and it was one of the most moving songs I've heard in some time. Apparently a lot of it is autobiographical as well.
It was indeed on GAC's telecast of the Grand Ole Opry, and I know they usually rebroadcast that on Sundays, so you might be able to catch or record it again so your son can hear it.

Granted, I'm about 10 hours after the fact on this thread, but wow IJAG. Have poor day, did ye?

Paisley awesome, and I disagree about Ticks, which I think is highly entertaining.

I love country music. I think "Ticks" is stupid. Other that that, Brad Paisley's catalog is rock-solid. He's a helluva guitarist, too, in the Roy Clark/Vince Gill mode.

Paisley's wife is Kimberly Williams, the bride in the Father of the Bride movies.

Nah ... it's vastly better than Honky Tonk Badonkadonk. Ticks is just a silly song, not painfully bad.

See, to me, HTB is just a stupid song. But an entire song about checking a woman for ticks?

Painfully bad.

"Ticks" is fantastic, as is "HTB," which is the ringtone for when Mrs. JH calls.

And I'm looking very forward to picking up Paisley's newest, along with Toby Keith's newest.
