Anybody watch the season opener with the Jets tonight?

Ryan just killed it.

He's a funny cat.

Rex Ryan is one of the most entertaining people in the business. Funny, down to Earth and his players would run through walls for him. And he's perfect for New York.

I've enjoyed every season of Hard Knocks and have always looked forward to the new episodes, especially as the urge for football increases around this time of year. But after the first show, I have a feeling this could be the most entertaining season since the first with the Ravens.

Is it just me, or is Joe Willie starting to bear a frightening resemblance to Lou Holtz?

One of my best friends works for the Jets...if you see a pale, curly-headed guy lurking around in the periphery, picture him sitting around a dirty-ass apartment 10 years ago, taking bong rips with Big Circus.

Also, per an email he sent this morning, their department has a drinking game for the show.

Drinking with every curse word resulted in a lot of hangovers this morning.

That was odd ... and sad. I know he's in his late 60s and had/has a drinking problem, but it's been a hard fall for the man once considered the epitome of bachelor style.

What was with that get-up, the popped collar, the high-water shorts and Gilligan hairdo? My dad's an engineer geek in his mid-60s, and there's no way he'd go outside the house looking like that.

And then there's this. Antonio Cromartie is apparently upset HBO made it look like he couldn't remember the names of all his kids:

Cromartie says the whole scene was staged. He told reporters that the director asked him to redo it because he wasn't pausing long enough between answers and that he had no trouble listing the names the first time.

"I had nailed it the one time before," he said, "but they had to redo it and they just told me to pause between each one of [the names]."

Regardless, he's got a hell of a lotta kids.

Given time, this show will replace the Madden NFL cover jinx. If I'm an owner, anyone in my organization who wants to do this program is fired immediately.

The Bengals won their division last year, after missing the playoffs for three straight years. Unless you count Chris Henry's death, but I'd argue that he was never going to see 30 anyway.

It's hit and miss right now:

2001 Ravens -- won a playoff game (maybe their expectations were higher coming off the Super Bowl win).
2002 Cowboys sucked. Don't remember what their expectations were.
2007 Chiefs were terrible but they were supposed to be.
2008 Cowboys missed playoffs and they did have big expecations.
2009 Bengals won division after being expected to suck as usual.

It's certainly a risk for a team like the Jets who have such self-imposed high hopes, but I can't think of a better team right now to be on the show.

Call me crazy but I'm not buying Cromartie's line. From people that have covered him closely in San Diego, he's pretty full of it.

A reality show that's completely staged? GTFO.

He's apparently been trying to get rid of it in as many women as possible.
