Hairspray.....the movie of the musical, which was based on the movie.....

OK, I'm not a huge fan of musicals---but I loved every single minute from the opening song "Good Morning, Baltimore"

Now, in the interests of full disclosure, HC is in the movie so I was more or less obligated to go

Travolta is fabulous as Edna Trumblad and Christopher Walkien shows that he hasn't lost any of his original song and dance skills. A dance scene between Travolta & Walken may be the high point of the movie.

It was a nice break from most of the mindless crap out there. Hollywood now seems to think it's base demographic is 19 year old retarded chimpanzees.

Go see it. And vote for HC in the "Best 10 Second Performance by an Actor"

I'm not gonna lie ... it was beyond cool to see myself on the big screen. And we stayed until the end to see my name in the credits.

I think the best part of the whole thing was getting an email from my older brother who told me not only that he was proud of me but how proud my late Dad would have been to see my hard work and struggle pay off. That was sweet.

If you see the movie, my 10 seconds are in the scene with Jerry Stiller at "Mr. Pinky's Hefty Hideaway". I'm in a brown housedress with a veeery tall wig. If anything, I look very much like Mrs. Kravitz, the nosy neighbour on "Bewitched".

The film of the musical has cameos from the stars of the original film. Ricki Lake has a brief cameo as a judge at the final dance competition, John Waters as the local flasher and Jerry Stiller, who played Wilbur Turnblad in the original film plays "Mr. Pinky" in this film.

The film version of Hairspray doesn't have any of the original Broadway production's cast in any of the leading roles.
