The GOP candidates really assume they'll be running against Hillary, I can say that much.

I don't know if Democratic voters are going to give them their wish.

That's Madam President to you! :D

I really think Huckabee gives the GOP their best shot at winning. The ethics problems he supposedly has pales in comparison to the Clintons problems. And speaking of problems, CNN really screwed the pooch giving so much time to that Clinton plant. Nice vetting folks, so much for the best political team in the business. Didn't they think that a loaded question like this - cross-checking the GOP's love of the military with their anti-gay stance - would need to be bullet-proof? Wow. I think a few people are on the unemployment line tonight.

Glad you brought this up. Do they think just by saying something over and over a lot that it makes it true? That best political team **** really gets on my nerves.

I find the continued reference to the question being from a "Clinton plant" an odd statement.

Honestly, does anyone really think that someone supporting Clinton is not deserving of asking a question to the Republicans?

It is highly unlikely that I would vote for any of the Republicans on the ticket as I find them all to be rather scummy, but that doesn't mean I don't have a right to ask them a question or that my question should be removed from the pool of questions. I'm a citizen, and so is the General, if I want to ask one of the Republicans how they feel about something, I damn well am entitled to it.

CNN already is saying it should have identified the man as a Clinton campaign staffer (any doubts, see this link, scroll down, and Gen. Kerr's name is there -- http://campaignsandelections.com/ia/releases/?id=6514). There was nothing wrong with the question, but it needed to be put in the proper context: that a Clinton plant was asking it.

After last week's planted question, anyone wondering about the Nixon-like attempts on the part of Hil to control the media?

Hondo, two things:
1. Which campaign doesn't have planted questions? Did you already forget about Bush, while president, being asked questions from a plant who was also doing gay porn?

2. While it could be noted that the guy was a Clinton plant, I think that it would have been poor. The answers would have become comments about Clinton and the person linked with Clinton instead of actually addressing the question that was asked.

And the GOP doesn't do the same thing?

Somehow, the fact that the tax question was asked by an obscure Republican operative named GROVER NORQUIST also eluded CNN's crack vetting team.
"Nixonlike" attempts to control the media?
She talked about killing -- c.f. Jack Anderson -- any of them yet? (No, the evidence developed bythe voices in Hannity's head doesn't count.) She seems to be running her press operation pretty much like every NFL team does.

Proper context? Like that he wasn't a staffer? Yup.

So, GOP mind control central would have us believe that Obama is a secret Muslim and that Clinton is secretly puppetmastering the entire election. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Consider the source.

It is to laugh.

Ol' Grover's about as obscure as Paris Hilton.

In an email from a friend of mine...

"At what point to they just bring a Mexican on stage and shoot her?"

I believe they were already planning that for the debate which will be held on the Fox "News" Channel. Also, they won't use a woman. They will find a fat, ugly male for the task. Fat, ugly men are less sympathetic figures.

Not among Republicans.

Just out of curiosity, how many times did the sounds, "George," "W" and "Bush" come out last night, in any order?
Do you think they'll even tell him where the convention is?

Quote you're sure to hear soon:

"Soon after it happened, I turned to Bernie Kerik, and I said, 'Thank God Rudy Giuliani is ****ing his mistress in the Hamptons.'"

McCain tip-toed up to the line of criticizing Bush when he said that Bush picked Cheney for VP (actually Cheney picked Cheney) because he had not foriegn policy experience. That was the only mention I remember. Lots of Reagan references, though.

I think these debates are getting too cute for their own good (though I suspect getting a high rating has something to with it).I'm not just talking about videos, I'm referring to focusing on wedge issues, gays and guns and faith. Why does everyone wrap their arms around the second amendment and yet has no problems tinkering with the other ones?
We're not far from a time when debates will be judged by a jolly black man, a ditzy past her prime diva and some hack with a British accent. Candidates will be required to dance, participate in a cooking segment and throw a football, baseball or basketball. They will have "confessionals" where they are given a chance to share their innermost thoughts with the camera when not competing. The GOP final will feature a shooting contest, a Bible quiz and a fashion show (to make sure they ARE NOT gay). The Dems will have to build a house for a family in New Orleans, find a doctor who will perform an appendectomy for less than $500 and help as many old people across the street in a minute without causing harm to the helpee. The results will then be analyzed by the spouses of the contenders...and Howie Mandel.

This is can't-miss TV. With the writers' strike, who knows...

Of course, an impending writers strike at CBS News led the Democrats to drop a debate scheduled for next month. I don't know how that makes sense, unless Katie Couric couldn't come up with enough questions without her news writers giving them to her.
