The ESPN.com website has a freakin' countdown to LSU-Mississippi State and hours of chatter on the TV. WTF? Seriously, just WTF?
I wouldn't have a problem if it were actually a good game. What's the line on this game, LSU -18? Plus, they had to cut to Hicksville and show the State fans with those damn cowbells, which I can't stand. Ugh.

Thing is, there aren't any good games this week.

Rutgers-Buffalo
Penn State-FIU
West Virginia-Western Michigan
Ohio State-Youngstown State

I could go on. The teams in the top 25 are going to win a combined 1,085 to 99. At least people have heard of Mississippi State.

I'd love it if St. Sweater Vest lost to his old school, but agree with Clever, it ain't happenin'.

One of the many reasons why College Football is pretty stupid.

No ****ing way. The Penguins have a hard time with this thing called tackling.

Appy State has a remote chance of scaring Michigan, though.

I was looking forward to the 25-hour pre-game show, but hearing coaches call in without video at 3:30 EDT wasn't very riveting, and the flow was broken by the other programs ESPN cut it up with. I would have had live video cut-ins throughout with fans getting their tailgate parties going, etc. They had some of it in spots, but not enough to remain interesting. If ESPN really wants to do something for college footbal they should broker better games on the opening weekend. I miss the Kickoff-Classic and the like. Bring em back.

Tennessee-Cal is a pretty good game.

Will it be with Erik Ainge's pinky broken and status questionable?

Well Tennessee won by 17 with Ainge healthy, so I'm assuming his injury adds more intrigue.

The 25-hour online chat was a cool. The roster included players, analysts, several newspaper writers from different parts of the country. I would say putting the 3-6 a.m. shift on the espn.com college fb editor was "cheating" a little (put on a coach who is awake at that time, it wouldn't be hard to find one), but overall a fine idea.
