Just about every person in the US of A has put on an athletic event, fundraiser or somesuch to raise money for charity or contributed to one. It's not unusual.
The amount is great, but it's not like they are curing cancer. Unless that $14 million was just what the scientists needed to cure cancer.

Ace, I don't make the connection between the fact that they were one of many student charities and drawing a parallel between THON and a bunch of fraternity criminals. I mean, maybe we can wait until they do something that's, like, bad before pointing and snickering.
It's simply a chain-yanking throwaway line, and in pretty poor taste.
