Former CNN Anchor Aaron Brown

Dude was probably lost having to deal with something other than Paris Hilton's legal quandaries, then.

About 10 years or so ago, Brown anchored ABC's overnight news program. It aired in the wee hours on the East Coast. It was very loosey-goosey, off-the-cuff. I liked his performance there.

When he showed up at CNN, he seemed to be a lot more stuffed-shirt, and it just didn't work. Even when he tried to add a little levity to things, as he did with the headlines segment, it went flat.

I do miss Aaron Brown on CNN and on the ABC World News Now overnight broadcast. After he left, it paved the way for future bright light of ABC News, David Muir to subsequently become the overnight anchor of the program. Now, Muir is the anchor of World News Saturday and Primetime.

I could see Brown going back to ABC News, maybe to do Primetime or a special segment for 20/20.

Aaron Brown was horrible. Very boring, yet thought he made the news "personal" and had a "personal connection with the audience. No one cares about your "take" on the news Aaron when you are supposed to be an anchor. If you want to do an opinion show - do that.

That being said he can't be any worse than Couric. Maybe CBS could use him?

So you must despise Cavuto, Hume and Gibson, all of whom regularly present their "take" at the end of their newscasts (and yes, Dobbs and Olbermann do it, too). And clearly that approach has been a terrible failure for the aforementioned anchors.

I was just throwing Dobbs and Olbermann in there to include some non-FNC people, not to link those two as ideological allies. But I wouldn't say that Dobbs' current obsessions (the "war on the middle class" and the rabid anti-illlegal immigration crusade) are particularly libertarian.

Brown came across as a smarmy douchebag when he was on local TV in Seattle (KIRO and KING, I believe).

By the time he was on CNN, he had toned it down considerably.

"Libertarian" is a political view which does not fall within a left-right continuum. Libertarians hold views which conservatives see as liberal (i.e. legalizing or decriminalizing drugs), or liberals see as conservative (i.e. no deficit spending).
