No Derby winner, no Preakness winner. Wonder what NYRA has thought of that might get people to the track.

1 Dave in Dixie, Calvin Borel, 20-1
2 Spangled Star, Garrett Gomez, 30-1
3 Uptowncharlybrown, Rajiv Maragh, 10-1
4 Make Music for Me, Joel Rosario, 10-1
5 Fly Down, John Velazquez, 9-2
6 Ice Box, Jose Lezcano, 3-1
7 Drosselmeyer, Mike Smith, 12-1
8 Game On Dude, Martin Garcia, 10-1
9 Stately Victor, Alan Garcia, 15-1
10 Stay Put, Jamie Theriot, 20-1
11 First Dude, Ramon Dominguez, 7-2
12 Interactif, Javier Castellano, 12-1

That'll be a hell of a trick by Alan Garcia. Must have some wide stance thing going.

If Edgar Prado had a horse, I'd put $100 on it just because.

A friend had no favorite in the Sarava Belmont. Loved Prado. Saw Edgar and 70-1 and made a killing. Would never tell me how much he put down but it was significant.

Fixed.

Make Music for Me closed well in the Derby...so could be in the mix for me.

Trifecta, are the Garcias related? Just curious, I know it is a common name.

Ice Box seems like an obvious choice. He was flying at the end of the Derby.

Not unless it's super distant. One's from Peru, the other Mexico.

He hasn't come off his left lead in his last two races, including the Fla Derby win. Not looking to go there, at < 3-1.

Weather should be decent; t-storms should hold off until after nightfall.

The aftermarket on good seats is grotesquely soft, with enormous discounts
available (think Orioles tickets). I'm not sure there'll be 40K there, but
I'm guessing the announced attendance will be in the 45K range. The
supporting card is sheer dynamite. Expect to be there for that, the networking and the laughs.

No Derby winner. No Preakness winner.

Might as well be the number 8 race on the card at Santa Anita, for all anyone is going to care.

The Belmont loses much of its luster when there is no triple crown on the line. But at least show up, for the love of God!!!

You could hear between the lines from Pletcher than even after the Derby win, he didn't like SS's chance to prevail going a mile and a half.

Lookin At Lucky performed to the max in Baltimore. I don't blame Baffert a bit for blowing this off, given the three-week interval. LAL's a useful
horse. I wish I owned him, but he's by no stretch great. Lots of money
to be made, without abusing him.

Yeah. No good reason for either of those horses to be grinding at Belmont.

Now, if you KNEW Ice Box would run out of the money, and a couple of the other favorites might come up empty . . .

Or you can pick a place contender for a triple, like me. I'm going with 4-5-6.

Ice Box is going to have a heck of a time winning this race. No speed whatsoever outside of First Dude, and he's not a speed ball. These 1 1/2 mile races are often won by pacesetters or horses with tactical speed, and not by closers as you might think. I'd play against Ice Box and probably go with the other Zito horse, Fly Down (I believe it's a Zito horse).
