The company that owns The Fayetteville Observer has reduced its staff by 18 positions through layoffs this year.
About half of those layoffs were implemented Wednesday at Fayetteville Publishing Co. The numbers are inexact because some of the employees affected may shift to vacant positions being offered to them.
With these moves, the company will have reduced its staff by about 60 positions during the past year. The reductions came through attrition, layoffs and buyouts.
