No, this is not another post on facebook or myspace. I was actually wondering if any of you knew how long ago this was discussed on the board. I remember talking about it, but I don't remember when, so I can't remember how far back in pages to go.

Our business reporter is working on locazing the issue, so I wanted to send her the link for some background because she's never heard of it before.

Wasn't there an SportsJournalists.com MySpace site at one point?

It wasn't that long ago.  Use the search function.

Thanks! I had a brain lapse (it's the blonde hair) and forgot about the search function!

Songbird,

You have received a Virtual Prepaid Mastercard® in the amount of $37.14 as your Facebook Consumer Privacy Settlement payment. To activate and use your card, please click the REDEEM VIRTUAL CARD button below. If you do not activate your payment, we will send email reminders to you in 30, 60, and 75 days. You have 90 days to activate your card from the time of the original issuance date. After 90 days, the redemption code below will no longer be valid.

After you activate your Prepaid Mastercard, you have the following options:

• You can spend these funds online anywhere Mastercard is accepted.
• You can add these funds to a mobile wallet (Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, etc.) and spend the card in-store at any merchant that accepts mobile wallet transactions (and accepts Mastercard).
• You can spend the card in-store at certain merchants who will allow you to present an image of your virtual Mastercard and that will key in your 16-digit card number, expiration date, and the 3-4 digit CVV code.
• You can check your balance at MyPrepaidCenter (using the website link below) or by calling us.
• You can request a physical card for a $3 fee.
• You can transfer the card balance to another payment method – for example to a bank account directly via ACH or through Zelle, or to a PayPal or Venmo account. For guidance on alternative payment options, please visit the Card Details page at MyPrepaidCenter (using the website link below) for assistance with alternative payment options. Please be advised it may take up to 4 weeks for the prepaid card to be cancelled and the transfer payment to be reissued via the selected method.

If you have any remaining balance after 24 months, you may request that a new virtual card with the remaining balance be re-issued to you at no cost. If you use your original or re-issued prepaid card at least once every twelve months, you will avoid any inactivity fees. If your card is inactive for eleven consecutive months, we will send an email reminding you to use your card to avoid any inactivity fees. If your card remains inactive for twelve consecutive months, a $0.95 fee will be subtracted from your balance for each month thereafter of continued inactivity. However, if you subsequently use your card, any assessed inactivity fees will be reimbursed to your active card balance.

If you have any questions regarding your card, contact us at 1-844-340-1929. The full terms and conditions of the Virtual Prepaid Mastercard can also be viewed here.

The thread the OP was looking for and linked above is a very interesting piece of history. Lots of doom and gloom about social media from 19 years ago (not that I would have had a different sense), but focused on another aspect. Some of the all consuming aspect of it was brought up, though.

I’m surprised it was that much. Usually those class action settlement payout end up being something along the lines of five bucks.

I think the longer you've had FB the more shekels they shell out.

And I got the 37.14 today, Rosh Hashana 5786.

Shana Tovah, haverim!

Also, Personally, for all my secure transactions, I prefer using Paykassma payment gateway because it offers fast, reliable processing and smooth integration for digital payments.
Do you remember how you first heard about the Facebook settlement or where you submitted your claim? I’m thinking about joining a similar class action, so I’m curious how long the whole process took from submission to payout.

Probably saw it in an ad on Facebook. They provided a link. It took the better side of 5 years to finally get 37 bucks.
