Hopefully he did not get inside a building. The way he was dressed (not really meant to blend in) hopefully means that this was an isolated dispute in the parking lot and not a person set to go on a killing rampage.

Send text messages if you know anyone at Tech. Those should get through. I'm guessing cell phone towers are jammed with calls.

Ugh. That's from a far corner of the lot across from Cassell Coliseum. An administrative building to the left, dorms and a dining area beyond that. Behind and very close to where this picture was taken is a very active student workout center. A couple of blocks further down the road is "the cage," the student parking lot where there are reports of another possible victim.

WASHINGTON -- Testimony is set to resume today at 9 a.m. in Virginia Tech's appeal of $55,000 in fines levied by the U.S. Department of Education for the university's handling of the April 16, 2007, shootings.

The Education Department earlier found Tech officials had violated the Clery Act, a federal campus safety law in place for about 20 years. This is the first evidentiary hearing ever held in a Clery Act case.

Tech maintains that it did nothing wrong in delaying a campus-wide alert about the first attack in a campus dormitory early on April 16.
