Hey guys,
So I'm going through wedding photos from Friday and came across this one. The bride and groom met at a newspaper so I thought this would be a nice touch to kind of tell their story (though they met at a weekly, I had to use our state's daily to display the correct date of the wedding.)
Thoughts?

When my first daughter was born, I wanted to do something different with her month by month photos. The first five weeks, I took her picture. Then that got annoying, so I went with month by month. After two months, trying to pose that with the stupid sticker or sign was even more annoying. So I came up with a different plan.
Every month I take photos around when her birthday would be (i.e. 13 month photo, 26 month photo, etc); it's not a posed shot. We just go out and do something and I get a candid and that's her that month photo.
On her first birthday, I took a picture of her holding a picture of her when she was born. My wife made a banner of the month-by-month photos and we hung it at her first party. For her second, we did the same thing. starting with her 1-year old picture and going month by month until we got to Year 2 - a pic of her holding the 1-year pic - and kept the Year 1 banner and hung them side by side.
We - and when I say we, I mean my wife - ditched the banner this year, but I have the month by month photos saved and here is the Year 3 pic - my daughter holding a pic of herself when she turned two holding a pic of herself when she turned 1 holding a pic of when she was born.
The photo is meh. I was rushed for time trying to get the party together and missed the golden light by 20 minutes. Took this so we'd have something for tomorrow and I plan on cheating and doing the shot again so the light is better and her hair doesn't make her look homeless. Plus, we need a visible bow.
It's been a fun project and I really like the direction it's going.

So last night I was shooting football and was locked in on the quarterback. He's looking directly at me, I'm snapping away. Ball tips off the receiver's hands in front of me and, BOOM, hits my camera dead-on. Luckily, I only broke the lens hood but still. That sucked.

I like the second volleyball shot, where the girl getting ready to hit is looking at the setter like a hungry person looks at a 1/4-pound cheeseburger.

Nice moment that you don't usually see in a volleyball photo.

Shot a Bonnie & Clyde themed engagement session Sunday. Really awesome couple and we had a blast. In an unplanned moment, I rushed them to set this shot up while the sun was rapidly setting.

Earlier this year our boss bought my co-worker a Nikon D7000, in part because it does video. Last week boss was talking about how we need to do more video, so he bought a Nikon D7100 that I'll be using. I have three Nikons already (D40, D70 and D1H) so some of the controls are very familiar, but the technology has sure changed and improved since those other cameras were new. Much improved high ISO performance, faster focusing, etc.
I'm covering a night Christmas parade on Saturday so that's going to be a good test, both for pics and video. Fortunately a neighborhood in town really goes all out with Christmas decorations, so I'll be able to experiment with various settings before the parade.

Could we add video to this thread? I realize that runs more of a risk of outing folks, but would love to see what video work y'all are doing.

I hooked the GoPro up behind the backboard last night at the Wyoming at Colorado State game to shoot the second half. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. Biggest problem was there not being enough excitement around the rim (luck of the draw). Next time I do it, I won't put the same song on a loop 2 1/2 times, but it was 1:30 a.m. and wanted to have it done that night to embed in my column and not search for more stuff on Killer Tracks.

Does anyone else have experience doing this? What's the best angle to use?

Nothing fancy here, just a shot I took at a soccer game tonight that I love for some strange reason. It's so simple, but I think the white uniform on the pitch black background (which is just the night sky) is striking. There's something surreal about it.
