Did high-school program misrepresent itself to get on TV?

Amazing how many outlets are referring to this thingy as a “charter school.” It is not registered with the state as a charter school.
In 2020-21, it was on the list of “Non-Chartered, Non-Tax-Supported” schools. Of the 399 alleged schools on the list, 41% didn’t have an email address.
Bishop Sycamore, magically, did have an email address, but its physical address is the same as an indoor sports center.
This sort of thing boils my blood.

Yes, if you're going to be a football factory, you at least need to have a factory.

I think the issue is on IMG's end. I'm assuming 90 percent of high schools will not play them. They're looking for warm bodies to play and these jamokes stepped up. If IMG does its homework, ESPN isn't on the bad end of this.
California Interscholastic Federation banned school from playing IMG Academy starting with the 2019 season.

-- Duncanville played host to Mater Dei last weekend. Monarchs eeked out a 45-3 victory.
-- I think IMG played St. John Bosco a few years ago.
-- Larry Bird led the Indiana State Sycamores to the NCAA championship game.
-- There is a Sycamore Canyon in Malibu.
-- The park across the street from my house is Sycamore Park. Most of the trees are sycamores.
-- My next-door neighbor has a sycamore tree in his back yard that drops debris onto my BBQ.

Mater Dei went to Florida and played IMG in 2018.

There's also a Sycamore Inn on Route 66 in Rancho Cucamonga. Been there since the mid-1800s. Good steaks the last time I was there about 25 years ago.

When I lived in Jamaica and worked for a newspaper, Lady Saw was the most popular female rapper on the island. One of her big songs at the time was called Sycamore Tree.

Lady Saw was lewd and freaky and X-rated to the core. She grabbed her crotch and ass a lot on stage. Super talented. Got lots of good photos of her at a few shows.

One day I went to photograph entertainers and Lady Saw was there. Because she rapped about the naughty stuff, I wanted to take a photo of her reading from the Bible under a tree, possibly a sycamore. It was a spur of the moment thing. Can't even remember why there was a Bible there. She agreed to the photo.

I gave the photo to the night editor who thought it was funny and they used it on the front for the next day though it had nothing to do with the line.

Years later, Lady Saw found religion and turned to gospel.

@Alma would be proud of her turn to god.

My question is who made the most money out of this? The “coach” who put the team together or the agency that sold the team to ESPN?
That’s another good question that ESPN didn’t address and that nobody seems willing to ask.
1) What’s the $$$ involved ?
2) What’s the educational component? Are there teachers in payroll? Is the curriculum provided by a third party vendor?
3) What is the cost of attendance at this alleged school?
I don’t expect all the answers yet. But I do expect anybody writing this thing to tell me they have at least asked.

I can't believe Kyle is still coaching at St. Ignatius.

He’s a lifer. Played football at Ignatius, graduated from there around the time Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. Still teaches English and coaches the track and field teams. Turns 70 toward the end of this season.
