Texas de Brazil
Mi Cocina -- get the Sunset Fajitas. And go to the bar and get the frozen mango margarita. Their frozen drinks will change your life.

I got a ton, here. What exactly are you looking for? Greasy spoon? Fine Italian? Steak?

Something authentically local? In town for a couple days and am free tonight, have to work tomorrow. Looking for a good place to eat without breaking the bank even though it's on the company. Some southwest food or TexMex.

Chuy's is a chain, but it's a Texas-only chain with Tex-Mex to die for. Also, the original El Fenix is downtown near the AAC.

I would kill for Chuy's. It's probably my favorite TexMex place in Dallas. It's about 15 minutes from you on 75 at Knox-Hendrrson about 2 blocks east of the freeway, at the corner of McKinney.

Okay, my dad tells me it used to be a Texas-only chain, but it has since expanded. It's based in Austin though, and I would still murder someone for their enchiladas and chips and salsa.

Reviews for Chuy's are pretty favorable. That might be the winner unless anybody has a better suggestion

Don't know Dallas, but was a fan of Chuy's when I lived in Houston.

There were places that were arguably better, but Chuy's is fun and good.

It's also the place that busted GWB's daughter for underage drinking.

If your town doesn't have a Chuy's, I would eat that and be perfectly happy. Creamy jalepeno sauce makes everything good.

Mi Cocina, dude. Way better than Chuy's. Trust me. Best Mexican I've ever had. Reasonably priced, too.

Also, for a decent steak, Saltgrass is a Texas chain that is pretty good and reasonably priced.

Like Inky said, Bubba's for chicken.

Sorry, late to this thread, but I gotta agree, Mi Cocina is my pick for Tex-Mex.

I wasn't a huge fan of Mi Cocina, but perhaps it was just the one closest to me that disappointed.

Someone mentioned a place named Monica's in Deep Ellum, but I never really got down to that neck of the woods too often.

Honestly, the best Tex-Mex I ever had was a tiny hole-in-the-wall outside of New Braunfels followed closely by a hole-in-the-wall in San Angelo. Fan-freaking-tastic. But places like that, you really need to know the hours because sometimes they're closed Monday or only open for lunch or whatever.

Slightly off topic, but ate at a Chuy's in Louisville when I was on assignment there in December 2010. The "Elvis Presley Memorial Combo" is a classic (I assume they still have it?)
