"Daddy, I'm pregnant." Rinse, repeat.

Know a stripper (best friend's wife) that got pregnant every two years since before she was 18. Had 3 kids by the time she was 22. Then had multiple abortions as a form of birth control (they were uber-dumb). Friend finally got a "V" and they haven't had any problems, of course...

God I hope my wife and I have boys.

If you have daughters, novelist, one getting pregnant is in no way irrational.

I'm irrational about it. My wife gives me a hard time when I make my 13-year-old change her shirt for a higher neckline. Sorry, but I was a teenage boy. I know what those little ****s are looking at. And it's not her beautiful eyes or strawberry blonde hair.

I'll probably be the same way when I have a daughter that age.

I don't understand how teenagers (boys and girls) don't realize that they have to use a condom.

All of these kids should have to do that drill in high school with the baby that's programmed to cry and **** all the time.

I'm all for putting my kid on birth control too. Honestly, I'd rather have my daughter lose her virginity a year or two earlier if as long as she doesn't bring home another mouth for me to feed.

There was a girl in my high school who had two kids before she graduated, and word was she popped out a third before the end of her first year of community college. She's a year younger than me, so she was 15 (10th grade), 17 (12th grade) and 18 (freshman in college), I believe.

Not to make this a contest, because it's a god-awful subject to talk about kids having kids. But there was a girl in my class that had her first kid ... gulp ... in sixth grade. Now, she was held back a year, so she was 13 when she had it.

Welcome to abstinence-only sex ed.

Yeah, that bites. When are schools just going to accept the fact that kids have sex and no one is going to stop them?

Hell, my 16-year-old cousin has done it 3 times. Blew me away when she told me, but at least she's on birth control.

At that age, I'd done it way more than just three times.

My class got real sex ed, like the kind where they bring in the ****** and make you put condoms on them (we were separated by sex, BTW).

The class after us got the abstinence-only dreck.

We had one girl get pregnant. Class after us had nine.

Did you use your fingers to put them on? :D

Geez, you'd been on birth control since you were 12, I guess you did.
Which do you think came first, though, the chicken or the egg (so to speak)?
Sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Scares me.

I wasn't anywhere close to that at 16. Had so many better things to do.
Glad I waited, and I made up for it later, when I actually knew what I was doing, as did those doing the doing. ;-)

I grew up in Appalachia. In seventh grade (I was 12), there were four eighth graders who were pregnant. In seventh grade, I had friends who'd already had sex.

Self-fulfilling, maybe, but better that than a mother at 16.

HH,

What should he have done? I am not trying to be a jerk, but you can't watch her 24/7. All you can do is teach your values as best you can and then cross your fingers.

I have an 18 year old, and one of the hardest conversations I ever had with her was when she was 16 and starting to date. It involved all the things that boys would say to try and have sex with her. It also included me telling her that if she did decide to have sex, please make sure he used a condom and if he told you it didn't feel right with a condom on, tell him too damn bad. Having told her all that, she could have easily chalked it all up to the rantings of an overprotective father and ignored me...I am fortunate that she didn't, but it did involve a lot of finger crossing.

Dirk, not trying to rip you, but having this convo at 16 meant it took place long after the horsies were gone from the barn.

Knowing the area where HH works, this thread topic does not surprise me one damn bit.

Yeah, there are no teenaged girls getting pregnant in Boston.

Or New York.

Or Chicago.

Or Cleveland.

Or Albuquerque.

Just down here amongst us ****-kickers.
