We are moving quickly on this so any help you guys can provide would be appreciated...

The Reno Gazette-Journal needs a sports copy editor as soon as possible. We're looking for someone with new ideas and the desire to carry them out. This is mostly a desk position but there are changes in the works on the staff that will also allow for some writing. Another perk: It's four-day, 10-hour shifts. We do require at least three years of newspaper design experience and if you have knowledge of JazzBox and InDesign, that's a plus too. Please send a resume and design samples to Chuck Carlson, Sports Editor, Reno Gazette-Journal, P.O. Box 22000, Reno, NV 89520. Questions? e-mail [email protected].

Folks, this one really is just a few minutes from Tahoe. :D

And a pretty good place to live and work.

4-day work weeks are heavenly. My time on the desk tells me that once the work starts flowing you wouldn't even notice the extra couple hours.

My organization does a lot of business in Reno so I've spent a lot of time there (25 nights there this year so far). I've met Chuck and he's a good guy. The city is nice once you get away from the downtown district. And if you have a gambling problem, I'd highly suggest you look elsewhere :)

Why? Are the tables better somewhere else?

I actually like the downtown casinos. The river is cleaned up a bit as well. Different time in my life and this gig would be appealing.

I use that at my paper (use it to view the wire/call in stories and photos.) Works pretty well, IMHO.

This would be a good job, Chuck's a good guy. The guy who left wanted some more writing opportunities I guess, but if you want to get a start copy editing this is a good one. Might be hard if you've got a gambling problem, though. I've lost 30 dollars once, that was enough for me. hehe.
