Controversy rises over Prince's phallic halftime projection

Now, if he had played "Erotic City", I could see the complaints.

Nothing in my life will ever be crazier than seeing the First Ave. go absolutely **** nuts when Prince dropped in and played, and the raw debauchery that occurred when he sang that song.

Halftime performances at the Super Bowl (with my first-place votes in parentheses... yes, I have given myself more than one first place vote):

T4. 38 piles of **** (0)

Aeorsmith's halftime performance a few years back didn't get any votes?

For god sakes.
We have problems like the war in Iraq, budget deficit , and astronauts wearing diapers and they're worried about Prince's penis?

Don't count Furman Bisher as one of those giving Prince the thumbs up. Seems he's more of an Up with People guy. As they tend to say down here---bless his heart. First Super Bowl since numero uno that he hasn't attended, btw.

"And for the halftime show, I watched this one without distractions. We’d reserved halftime for dinner, and I’m still not sure what I was seeing. Prince is an entertainer, right? He sings and dances and attracts babes. He paid tribute to the weather. I guess that’s what “Purple Rain” was, but truth to tell, since Up With Something or Other, whatever the name of that wholesome group was, most of these halftime ballets have been over my head"

As a parent of two boys (7 and 5), I was more disturbed about the rock-throwing commercial than anything Prince did. You guys are dead on, violence is cool, anything that could possibly be remotely connected to sex, bad.

No, because they lowered themselves to performing with N'Sync and Britney Spears.

I love the irony of how those most opposed to big, throbbing cocks are the ones who always see big, throbbing cocks even when there aren't any big, throbbing cocks to be seen.

****ing Prince.

MY big, throbbing **** was the one everyone was SUPPOSED to see at the Super Bowl, but Purple Boy stole my thunder. You're supposed to be at the World Series of Love, not the Super Bowl of Bubbler, you weird ass ****-blocking has been!

I mean ... ****. That banana chafed my leg after the long wait in the media bus, I've got full banana peel burn on my upper leg even now. But no pain no gain, I maintained full crotch region trouser expansion until the rain started.

Then some ****head from NFL Network stepped on my citrus unit while trying to get away from the precipitation ... instant Banana Split in my pants.

Raw debauchery, huh? What, did he go ATM on Carmen Electra?

Not that I really cared or protested, but of course Prince's solo behind (beneath?) the sheet was sexually suggestive. He's ****ing Prince for crying out load. This is the man that gave us "Get Off."

I was entertained by his musical performance and thought it was one of the best halftime shows ever -- not that many have ever captured my attention. The only thing that annoyed me about Prince was the rain scarf he wore over his hair during the first couple songs.

I ran the AP story and pic in our sports section. Got an e-mail from the SE today telling me that while he's not a prude (despite the coming contradiction), he wants me to never run a story like that again. That just because it's on the AP wire doesn't mean it's fit for our paper. And no, I don't work in Lancaster, Pa.

Maybe he oughta drag his ass into the office on Super Bowl Sunday--many SEs do, you know.

I've been told First Avenue does a monthly Prince night. All Prince music, all night. Don't know if 7th Street Entry does. Doubt it.

A better bet is every second Sunday at O'Gara's Garage in St. Paul, where ex-Gear Daddies frontman Martin Zellar does NEIL!, an evening of nothing but Neil Diamond covers.

It's more fun than anything you can do with your clothes on.

Man, I spent many a drunk night at O'Gara's when I was in college. So long ago that they didn't even have the Garage when I first started school.
