PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- A train derailed near the Route 44 and Route 2 interchange in Painesville on Wednesday afternoon.
Several cars were on fire, and there were reports of thick black smoke billowing over the area, WEWS-TV in Cleveland reported.
It was unclear what the 112-car CSX train was carrying. It was traveling from Cleveland to Buffalo.
Hazmat was being called to the scene as a precaution.
Mike Pettrey, who was driving in the area when the train derailed, said he heard an explosion.
He said he could see a large amount of smoke and even flames from his office, which is about a half-mile away.

Shots fired in a cleveland-area high school
(CNN) -- At least two people were injured Wednesday in a shooting at SuccessTech Academy, a high school in downtown Cleveland, said Andrea Jackson, press secretary for Cleveland's mayor.
Two students were taken to hospitals, she said. One was taken out of the school on a stretcher but was conscious.
Police are looking for a 14-year-old male in connection with the shooting, according to reports.
Cleveland fire, police and EMS are at the scene, as is Mayor Frank Jackson.
CNN affiliate WKYC reported five people were wounded.

I heard the police say the shooter is dead. (The TV also said he was wearing Marliyn Manson gear and a trench coat).

The train derailment is a traffic nightmare according to WTAM.

1. Parents saying that security had been cut back, there were no metal detectors, etc.

2. Students saying the shooter had talked about shooting up the school and worshipping the devil.

Not good.
