carson palmer -- wow

That is big for Palmer. Likely his best game since USC beat Notre Dame, or even better, his performance in a high school title game in Orange County his senior year when his Santa Margarita High team bested a DeShaun Foster-led Tustin High team in the late 1990s.

Carson was great...but how about that T.J. Whose-your-mama.He did great because the Pack doubled on Chad, but a good performance is a good performance.

I suddenly feel a lot better about the season.

More remarkable was the fact that Chad Johnson was a non-factor in the first half.

This is a Bengals team that will put up a ton of points this season.

Question is, how many points will they surrender to opponents? When they beat the Steelers 38-31 last year, they won in turnovers 4-0 and needed a stop in the final two minutes to secure the victory. When you're plus-four in turnovers, there should never be a need to make a stand that late in the game to win it. The defense is still very suspect.

Obviously, the offense will be anything but that.

Why do I feel his recovery was aided in some way, especially considering the news about the 2003 Panthers ... It's great to see him back, but still 7 1/2 months after that kind of a knee injury? Something just isn't right

Ya, it was preseason football, but it was starters vs. starters for the first half. Maybe the Packers were dogging it. If so, let's hope that continues.

Having Sam Adams plug up the middle should help the Bengals against the run, which is where they were most vulnerable last year. Losing Thurman for four games won't help, but there's enough talent in the linebacking corps to overcome that for the first quarter of the season.

Cincy's defense will be better than last year's. I just hope it remains as opportunistic.

I've fretted Cincy's schedule this year, but the other AFC North teams have it just as bad. All play the AFC West and NFC South. While Cincy gets the Pats and Colts, Pittsburgh gets Miami and the Jags and Baltimore gets Buffalo and Tennessee. The Ravens may have a slight edge in their two at-large games, but I think Cincy is the best team of all three.

The winner may be 9-7 or 10-6, but it'll be a tested (read: not mediocre) 10-6.

Let me ask you guys a question here.

Do you think Palmer and Chad can the Bengals to the superbowl this year.

Not sure about that but I took the Browns to the Super Bowl this morning.

Not only was it an exhibition game, it was an exhibition game against THE ****ING PACKERS. The Bengals would have gotten a better look playing Moeller.
