Advance Media New York (NYup.com/syracuse.com/Post-Standard) is looking for someone to cover the Buffalo Bills.
This is a "beat writer" job, but not really. Yes, you'll be based in Buffalo and travel to away games, but we're not interested in the typical approach to covering a team. We don't do game stories and skip post-game pressers. We talk to players who won't be quoted everywhere else. We focus on what fans want to read on digital platforms.
You must be self-directed and confident, willing to step away from the cluster of media asking the same questions of the same people. You must be comfortable taking photos, shooting video and engaging with readers on live Q&As. And we need someone who knows how to build sources and cover trending news.
Send your resume and links to your best work. Send something that will make you stand out. And don't waste time with a traditional cover letter. Just tell us in the email why you'd be a good candidate.
We're moving quickly, so email Hank Domin ([email protected]) by June 12 at the latest. No phone calls, please.
