Breaking horrible news

I thought of this very scenario after Steve McNair was killed.

I was thinking what it would be like to be a Chris Mortensen or Peter King who has Jeff Fisher's contact information, and what it would be like to call right away for reaction and he hasn't heard it yet.

Ugh.

It's been bad enough when I've had to break it to people running for certain offices that they lost. I can't imagine what this is like.

How I know the guy...

He married my sister three different times, so the guy is a brother to me. My sister said she would have done it but they haven't spoke since their final divorce.
My best friend and I were fighting back and forth about how it wasn't our place, but we decided that someone had to say something.
He even said to me, "If you guys didn't try to call me and I didn't read it in the paper I would have never known that she was dead."

This is exactly the situation I worry about with my brother and his ex. that woman ran him over the coals and threatened to hurt the child unless he left. (her longtime b/f was infertile, hit up my brother, had sex with him, got pregnant, left him for the old b/f) I just worry something will happen to that kid and he'll never know.

I applaud your character and morals. Good vibes and good thoughts for you, your friend and the rest of the family. A situation none of us would ever want to go through.

Sorry to keep dragging this along, but I got a look at the obit we are going to run tomorrow.
The girl's father is not anywhere in the thing. It's like he was never a part of her life, and he was. He may have been a horrible father, but he didn't abuse the girl.
It's making me mad, cause you don't need to be like that. Nobody does.
I guess I just don't understand that kind of hatred, and hope to never have to.

Be there for him if you can. It's bad that a father cannot get a mention in there given those circumstances. I'm pretty sure my father would have been excluded too and, similar to this case, he may not have been a model father, but he never abused me. Never.
