So being back in a real city for the first time in a decade, I'm surrounded by more crime, and gruesome crime, and with that the stories we publish.

We're in the midst of a monster one now involving a gang murder, and it's all really sad.

Long story short: Gangster is set up for a brutal beatdown by a rival gang and is left for dead in a Dumpster. His roommate, a "Queen" involved with both of the gangs, sees the guy led out of the house en route to his beatdown, so the inca of the rival gang orders her to be rubbed out since she'd be a "snitch." The 17-year-old girl, with 2 daughters, is shot in the back of the head and killed in her basement. But the guy who was left for dead somehow survived. Yesterday, he testified against the alleged killer of the girl -- who happens to be the "friend" who led him to the park where he got beat down and strangled and utterly ****ed up.

Gripping testimony. Trial's going to resume Tuesday.

Anyway, lots of gang killings here, and other high-profile crime. They make for interesting stories.

What's the big story in your city or town right now?

In one of the little towns we cover, police chief (and only law enforcement officer) was arrested for stealing five bottles of beer from the fire department. Even made Paul Harvey.

Stirring drama in these here parts, I tell ya.
