The men's golf team at Jacksonville State recently shot one of the lowest one-round team scores in the history of collegiate golf.
Golfstat, the official scoring service of college golf events, could not confirm it was the lowest team round ever, but it might be.

The Gamecocks were playing in the F&M Bank Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay State University at the Links of Novadell. They shot an astounding second round of 259, 29-under-par, and went on to finish 42-under-par for the three-round tournament, winning by nine.
Matthew Wallace (62), Gonzalo Berlin (64), Alfonso Otoya (66) and Andres Schonbaum (67) combined for the historic round, while Tom Robson's 69 did not count, but his other rounds, both 68s, did.
Berlin and Wallace finished tied first individually in the tournament, with Robson a shot back.
• In a related subject, former Gamecock Danny Willett, who hails from Sheffield, England, has had a very solid year on the European PGA Tour. He played for JSU from 2005 to 2007 before turning pro and moving back home.
• Four players with local ties recently were named All-Americans by the American Junior Golf Association.
Michael Johnson, a senior at Spain Park, was named first-team Rolex Junior All-American. Last week he played in the Nationwide Tour's final regular-season event at TPC Sawgrass (Valley Course). He shot 74-73 to miss the cut, but gained valuable experience. He received an exemption into the event after winning the AJGA Players event earlier this fall.
Tom Lovelady and Stewart Jolly received honorable mention accolades. They both attend Mountain Brook High School.
Lovelady was named honorable mention for the second consecutive year. He had five top-10 finishes in national junior competition this year, including a tie for ninth in the Rolex Tournament of Champions.
Jolly posted three top-10s, highlighted by a tie for third in the Exide Technologies Junior Open.
Stephanie Meadow of Jordanstown, Northern Ireland, is a freshman at the University of Alabama. She was named first team All-American and earlier this year won the AJGA Junior at Innisbrook.
• Kathy Hartwiger, Lea Green, Tami Green, Maegan Rice, Sue Raines, Pam Holcombe, Judy Jehle, Sara Grantham and Susan West represented the winning Alabama team in last week's Southeastern Women's Amateur Team Championship played at Turtle Point in Killen.
This was the 18th playing of these matches that rotate between Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi and North Carolina. The home state won by a point over Florida in the three-day event that features four ball, foursomes and singles matches.
Lea Green was the leading points scorer, going three for three in her matches. She partnered with Hartwiger in the team matches.
