So, does 13-0 Missouri jump 13-0 Oregon and/or 13-0 Florida State? Clearly 13-0 Ohio State would be behind 13-0 Missouri.

OK. I did SEC vs. Big 10, because I follow the Big 10.

Is the SEC better than the Big 10, yep you betcha. Have they dominated the Big 10 (outside of that terrible Ohio State team)? Nope. Actually, it's been a pretty competitive series, both in the regular season matchups (which usually take place in SEC territory) and the bowl matchups (which also usually take place in SEC territory).

I don't feel like looking up SEC vs. Big 12 or SEC vs. Pac 10 or SEC vs. Sun Belt.

Conference vs. conference is misleading because the top teams rarely play each other during the regular season. You may get an occasional Alabama-Michigan matchup, but most of the time it's a top team from one division playing a mediocre to lower level team from the other conference.

If you want to match them up like they do in hoops, then it might mean something, but that will never happen in a million years.

The SEC is better than the Big Ten, I don't think anybody would dispute that, but it's not because Missouri beat Indiana this season.

Knew that was coming. SEC is dominant! Check the records! Oh wait, don't check the head-to-head records, those are misleading.

The only instance of a Big Ten Conference team beating a top-tier Southeastern Conference team I can think of is Ohio State topping Arkansas (with Terrelle Pryor and friends playing even though they clearly shouldn't have been).

Just noticing that beginning in 2007, it's 15-8 for the SEC, and in the past four seasons (including this one so far), it's 11-5.

That's pretty dominant.

The only flaw with that logic is that one of the big arguments for the SEC's superiority is its being so strong top-to-bottom. If it's a wash (or something close to it ... I don't know if I'd consider 17-13 a wash) then that would call into question at least a bit of the default deference that's granted.

The SEC has been dominant in 2010s. Won't deny that. He asked to go back eight years, so I did. In the last eight years, it's been closer than people think.

And I know it's a copout, but 75% of those SEC-Big 10 matchups take place in SEC states.

It's a nothing argument to be quite honest because none of us know what Alabama-Ohio State 2013 would look like in Tuscaloosa, Columbus and a neutral site. None of us know what Wisconsin-Mizzou 2013 would look like in Columbia, Madison and a neutral site.

My whole point is that the SEC's dominance is by three teams -- LSU, Alabama and Florida. When Ohio State and Michigan were both very good, that didn't mean the entire Big 10 was good. It just meant that those two Big 10 teams were pretty good.

I'm a Michigan fan. I watched a very average Michigan team play with and lead for most of the game a South Carolina team that lost only two games and started this season in the Top 5 last year. If the SEC is so dominant, South Carolina shouldn't have needed a Jadaveon Clowney heat-seeking missile of a tackle to beat a very average 8-5 Michigan team.

The past eight seasons is from 2006-2013. You went back 10, from before the title streak even began.

Ahh, conveniently leave out that 3-6 record against the Big 10. That's how it works.

How about this? What's the SEC's record in cold-weather games in Big 10 stadiums. Numbers never lie, I guess, especially when you just pick and choose the numbers.

But you're right. SEC rules. 8-team playoff should be top 7 SEC teams and the worst team in the NFL. I think we can all agree on that.

Carry on.

I've got Jags minus-7.

Not if Chad Henne starts. He's a Big 10 quarterback. We all know Big 10 players aren't as good as SEC players.

I don't consider 17-13 a wash.

The SEC has six teams in the latest BCS poll. The Big Ten has three.

I don't know how anybody can make an argument that it's even close.

Based on current standings... How many of these games would the SEC be favored in at a neutral site?

Alabama vs. Ohio State
Missouri vs. Michigan State
Auburn vs. Michigan
LSU vs. Nebraska
A&M vs. Wisconsin
Georgia vs. Penn State
South Carolina vs. Minnesota
Florida vs. Northwestern
Ole Miss vs. Iowa
Tennessee vs. Indiana
Vandy vs. Illinois
Mississippi State vs. Purdue

If the SEC went anything worse than 9-3 in those matchups I'd be stunned.

You could take the sixth best team in the SEC and it would be favored over the second best team in the Big Ten.

No, we were discussing a specific period of time, the streak in which the SEC has won seven consecutive national championships. You were the one who made the arbitrary decision to tack on two extra seasons that were not part of the streak. So who's rigging the numbers?

Carry on.

What's so frustrating about dealing with the SEC fanbois in the media is how they always circle the wagons in defense of the league.

They'll never acknowledge that the league has been incredibly top heavy during its supposed run to the ultimate glory. They conflate the success of a couple of schools and apply that to everyone in the conference.

It is what Bob Stoops said this past summer. It is what others, who have attention, have said but it doesn't matter.

The SEC East has sucked balls for the last couple of years, but you won't hear many say that. The SEC West has been Alabama and LSU and that's mostly been it.

If A&M had stayed in the Big 12 for last season, they would have been undefeated but still not played for the national title because the Big 12 is a ***** league that doesn't play defense and Manziel would have been a system quarterback, who put up great numbers but no way could he do that against SEC speed and those mighty defenses.

McCarron probably wins the Heisman Trophy because he plays the "right way" and did you see his girlfriend?

That koolaid sounds delicious.

Riddle me this, Mizzou fan. If the SEC is so great, how is Mizzou (A Big 12 team for at least another year) able to compete in the conference? How is Texas A&M able to compete in the conference?

Haven't we always heard that you take any other conference team and put them in the SEC, they'd finish 6-12th?

What does "a Big 12 team for at least another year" mean? No one is suggesting every other conference and team in every other conference is terrible.

Really, the only thing the Southeastern Conference fanbois have said here is that 13-0 Missouri would deserve a spot in the championship game. Do you disagree?

That means that they didn't instantly attract 85 SEC football players overnight. They are still playing with players they recruited as a Big 12 team.

If Missouri goes 13-0, yes they deserve to be in the title game. Not sure what that has to do with anything, and it further bolsters my argument because how can Missouri run through the SEC in only its second year in the conference.

Hell, Nebraska is still looking for its first Big 10 title, and we heard for an entire offseason how dominant they'd be in a soft Big 10. Penn State is still looking for its SECOND Big 10 title.

Come on, man. If the SEC is that good, how do they let a couple of Big 12 teams come in and compete right off the bat.

Originally I thought that 17-13 didn't sound like much of a wash, but then I started thinking about it a bit more and, quite frankly, 17 out of 30's not so dominant. Suppose that every one of those 30 games was truly a match of equal teams. In 30 tosses of a fair coin, you'd have a bit more than a 29% likelihood of observing 13 (or fewer) tosses of a particular result. If it had been 20-10 (or even 19-11), yeah, that would be pretty convincing. But 17 out of 30's not such an unusual result.

And I'm not remotely ragging on anyone here with the fanboi accusation. I just am skeptical about the deference automatically granted top SEC teams when at least some of the evidence offered in support of that deference is the deference itself (to wit, BCS rankings being used to justify BCS rankings).
