The last Jew to win a batting title -- Jason Marquis!

Thanks for playing, everybody!

if, if, if, Buck.

I love this debate, but at one time Sosa, Belle and Thomas seemed to be shoe-ins as well. It's so strange how the power hitters (most) will drop rapidly. Hitters for average very slowly fade away.

I think Ichiro's body of work will be factored into his lifetime stats.

Thomas is a shoo-in, still.

Belle should be, under the Puckett and Koufax precedents, but his reputation will keep him out.

Ichiro's body of work in Japan won't be factored in -- otherwise Sadaharu Oh and Shigeo Nagashima would have been in long ago -- but he'll do more than enough in MLB to make it on his own merits here.

I agree with all of this.

Ichiro's a lock, provided he gets to the 10 years of service.

The guy was MVP and ROY in the same year and holds the single-season hits record. Done and done.

... and a 6-time Gold Glover ... and a 7-time All-Star ... and a two-time batting champion ... ;D

Yeah, he's in. Provided the 10 years.

Frank Thomas is in in his first year of eligibility, although I hope he doesn't hang around much longer.

None happened in my kitchen?

That's right, Sal Maglie started both games for the Giants and the Don Larsen perfect game. Front row seat to baseball history; losing pitcher vs. Larsen and no-decisions vs. Brooklyn and the Indians.
