speaking of garbage stats, it pisses me off every time they put up a stat about joe torre or jeter or mariano rivera having the most wins or saves or postseason something or others.
those stats should all be accompanied with an asterisk to remind people that for the first 68 years of this century there were a maximum of seven postseason games and a 14-game maximum for the next 25 or so years (not counting the strike years).
i don't doubt that jeter will be a hall of famer but his postseason totals are way overrated.

And to anyone who thinks the Yankees got the World Series won already, we've heard it several times since 2000. It hasn't come to pass yet.

At least if the Mets hold on, I won't need a refund on my Sunday ticket at Chavez Ravine. I can understand how they take one from LA today. The Dodgers pitching has been atrocious today, and their outfielders appear to be playing on the bleacher side of the wall.

Dave Duncan deserves credit for propping up Jeff Weaver and getting decent production out of him.
In his final 10 starts of the season, he went 4-1 with a 4.01 ERA and 1.217 WHIP.
He had been a 6.37 ERA guy the rest of the year
