Even though the Tigers aren't mathematically eliminated, I fear the end is near.

So, with that in mind, my playoff allegiances now belong to the...Brewers.

Not sure about that, but can definitely say there were a few occasions where he came home drunk.
My paper route was the two blocks around my house, up and back. It was a snowy January Friday, collection day. I just started going -- he lived 10 houses down -- and he pulled up, left the car running and staggered into the house. When I got done an hour later, the car was still running.

The summer between first grade and second grade, Ray Oyler used to live in a house across the street from out church/school. One day in 1968, they walked us across the street to get his autograph. I still remember what the paper looks like -- crude light purple cconstruction paper.
When I got older and found out what his batting average was, I was unimpressed. When I played little league and realized that his average was better than mine, I kicked myself for not keeping it.

Little-known fact... the artist created this Diamond King mistakenly using Charlie Moore as a subject, and upon discovering his gaffe, said '**** it' and turned it in to Donruss anyway...

As for real baseball, I'm pleased the Brewers have somewhat of a cushion on the Cardinals before they go to St. Louis for a 2-game series on Tuesday.

If the Cardinals had a chance to make up the Wild Card margin in the span of one series, a possibility going into the weekend if the Brewers had **** the bed against Pittsburgh, I would have been worried.

The Cardinals have the measure of the pitching matchups this week (way to go, Yost, for not setting your rotation for a crucial series when you had off-days to play with), and there's no way the Brewers are going to go into St. Louis and sweep there as they did in late July.

A split is all I ask.

They didn't have to juggle squat. Seth McClung, a reasonably effective starter from May to July, could have pitched today's game against Pittsburgh, leaving Sabathia and Sheets for St. Louis, both well-rested.

The Brewers will have three off-days in the course of two weeks, including two off-days bookended around this week's Cardinals' series, but Yost is such a ****ing creature of habit, he did nothing to maximize it. Wouldn't want to rock the boat by doing something pragmatic for once.

And a division title is gravy right now for the Brewers. As much as I hate to say it, the Cubs' sweep at Miller Park saw to that. Very unlikely the Brewers are going to make up the gap, even with head-to-head's to come.

Getting into the playoffs is paramount. That's why the Cardinals are more important to the Brewers right now than the Cubs, which is why I think the rotation should have been altered a tad to give the Brewers their best chance in their final head-to-head with the Cardinals.

A Brewers' sweep could put them up 5 1/2 in the Wild Card, why not go for it with your best pitchers?
