David Ching is leaving to take the sports editor's job in Athens, Ga.

So I am looking for an Auburn beat writer.

I am looking for someone with experience covering a major college beat, someone who can break news on a highly competitive beat. You will also be expected to produce features, analysis and enterprise. If you have some multimedia experience, that will be a big plus.

You would be expected to live in Auburn.

It is a job I need to fill immediately, so if you are interested, please send me an e-mail to [email protected]

If you sent me an e-mail last month for the high school opening, you don't need to resend your stuff.

If you have other questions, send me a PM and I'll be happy to answer what I can.

Kevin,

I just sent you an e-mail. Not for me, but for a guy I HIGHLY recommend.

Edit: That dude got a job. Good for the place that hired him. :) I am sure Kevin will lock down someone NICE.

15 years ago this ad would have made me breath heavy into a paper sack.

Kevin,
I would so be your man if it didn't require such a drastic change of address in such a short amount of time. I am kicking myself in the forehead right now b/c of bad timing. Oh well, maybe something else will happen in the future. Best of luck.

Stay humble! :)

What are the specs of the paper? Circulation? Good Company to work for? Worth Moving to Alabama?

It's a McClatchy paper. As for circulation, here are the ABC numbers:

LEDGER-ENQUIRER, COLUMBUS (MUSCOGEE CO.) AVG M (M-F) DLY 42,830
LEDGER-ENQUIRER, COLUMBUS (MUSCOGEE CO.) SUN DLY 51,434

That'd make it the fifth-largest paper in the state, behind the AJC, Macon, Augusta and Savannah.

Dude, it's Auburn football. Of course it's worth moving to Alabama.

I think the circulation is in the 50,000 range. Could be wrong, though.

As someone who has little love for Auburn the university, I must say I have always enjoyed Auburn the town. And I'll bet they'd even let you live in Opelika if you promised not to tell.

Damn, 10 days before season kicks off. That's tough. Someone's gonna get a great opportunity, though. SEC football > *

Why do you say that bullwinkle? :)

Because you are "so Kevin's man."

Just apply for the job and make the move. The rest will take care of itself.

Do it for War Eagle!

No need to be a smart aleck bullwinkle. What's w/ the attitude, just b/c I'm qualified?

Not sure this is the job for you, reporter1. I think they only pay 30 cents a mile.
