The Assistant Sports Information Director reports directly to the Director of Sports Information and the Director of Athletics. This is a 12-month position: August through July.
The Assistant Sports Information Director is the university’s athletic liaison to the media, university population, alumni, and general public and is a key member of the institution’s NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics staff. The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the operation of the Sports Information Office and contribute to the office’s public and media relations mission to increase media coverage of student athletes in the local, regional, and national media. S/he will aid in the generation of positive publicity of Fayetteville State University’s ten intercollegiate sports programs. The Assistant SID is responsible for covering ten NCAA DII sponsored programs and one NCAA DII non-sponsored program at Fayetteville State University. FSU sponsors Men and Women’s Cross Country, Men and Women’s Basketball, Football, Golf, Women’s Volleyball, Women’s Bowling, Softball, and Tennis. The NCAA non-sponsored program is Cheer-leading. The incumbent must be able to work independently and be prepared to travel frequently with the team.
