This person serves as the No. 2 in a department that covers all levels of sports in our region – from the Phillies, Eagles and 76ers, to two Division I universities and 60 high schools. The ideal candidate must know sports inside and out, possess strong news judgment and copy editing skills and be able to skillfully meet the demands of digital and social media. Applicants should have experience managing staff and content at a website or daily newpaper. Delaware is a great place to live, just 20 minutes from Philadelphia, 90 minutes from Baltimore and 2 hours from Washington, D.C. and New York City. There's no writing or event coverage with this position as it's currently set up. No layout, either. Essentially you'd be the section's night editor. In addition to the Philadelphia pro sports coverage, The News Journal also dips into Baltimore, particularly for the Ravens. Joe Flacco is a University of Delaware grad, so that's a big deal. You'd also get to work with a pretty talented staff. This paper has won seven APSE writing awards the last two years, while competing in the second-largest circulation class. That includes a first place for breaking news in the most recent contest. The current ASE is leaving for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

He is literal poison to whatever paper he works at, with 4-hour shifts, blaming of everyone else for any errors or mistakes, and leaving behind a disillusioned staff void of trust, motivation and the will to put out a good product.

He once told me, "The key to coming to a new paper is to fire 1 or 2 people, to make sure the staff knows you are serious." A direct quote.

And that's before he went and monumentally failed in spectacular fashion, both personally and professionally.

When he was a sports editor he never designed pages or made budgets. Rarely edited any copy and worked 4 hour days which was filled with going on dating sites. Would have the worst attitude on deadline. No way his ego could handle being a copy editor/designer especially now.
