Weekend Sports Editor

Heavy Sports is looking for a hard-charging sports editor to drive weekend audience growth and engagement across several team-specific pro-sports verticals. This is a fully remote opportunity.

Candidates who demonstrate the following will have a leg up:

• Availability and desire to work weekends, manage weekend coverage and own weekend outcomes — piloting coverage and engagement on Saturdays and Sundays
• Newsletter acumen: history of successful performance in improving open- and click-through rates
• Organization: a penchant for planning, tracking and analytics
• Sports guru: deep knowledge of the "big 4" American pro sports - especially NFL
• Ability to spot breaking news and pilot instant coverage
• Dialed in to team fans: ability to key on the storylines that each team's fan base most cares about day-to-day and iterate angles that resonate
• People skills: comfortable collaborating with lots of writers across many team beats
• Visual acumen: skilled in selecting and using images to drive interest and engagement
• Polish: clean, professional wordsmith and photo editor comfortable being the last eyes on work seen by millions
• Ethical: Drive tons of clicks without clickbait
