It's her paper. She can shape the editorial direction of it. In cities including Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C., ownership shapes the paper's focus.

But the good - and extremely well-to-do - people of Santa Barbara can choose to reject the product.

The employees claimed they were fired for organizing a union, and the NLRB agreed. That's what was overturned, not some guys whining because they didn't get to pick the Sunday centerpiece. Lets give out colleagues a little credit at least.

She originally got pissed because the paper printed Rob Lowe's address during a hearing over a land-use issue. But the city council meeting was on local access cable TV and the addressed was mentioned frequently. It was public record. And then Rob Lowe came out later and said he didn't really care. But Wacky Wendy fired and reprimanded her people anyway. She thinks she can do whatever the hell she wants because she is rich.

I worked at one plans where talk --- even jokingly --- of unions was strictly forbidden. I don't know how that would have held up in court if someone had wanted to challenge it, but it certainly wasn't worth it to me to do so.
