Hoops polls are a joke anyway. They shouldn't even have one, the only thing that matters is whether or not you're going to the Tournament.

There are many worse offenders than Dickie V., believe me.

And the coaches' poll is actually worse. I'd doubt many of those guys are even actually doing the voting. They're probably having their lackies do it.

A coaches poll in any sport is stupid. The coach for the football team I cover has a vote in the USA Today and he never knows what he has voted. I ask him, 'Where do you have team X this week?' He dances around it every time. I usually just ask the SID and he'll ballpark it, but won't give me an exact.

Yeah, I think it's usually the ops guy or somebody with a similar title who does that stuff.

John Feinstein not only gave ODU its one vote at 25, he also has VCU at 18. Given that I graduated from one and attended the second, I still must laugh derisively. Much as I'd like to see the CAA turn into the James Valley Conference, they'll send their tournament winner to the NCAAs as a 12 and be happy with it.
