AP doing school-specific recaps for CFB ...

Anyone know when the almighty AP started doing this? I don't remember seeing anything before tonight.

I noticed they were doing alternate stories for the losing schools. They started this for baseball season for the hometown papers of the losing teams. They rarely get in East Coast papers though because they come much later than the normal gamer.

Looks similar to the hometown ledes they've been doing in baseball and NFL.

It's not just a hometown lead. The entire recap is from the hometown team's view.

I'm pretty sure it started Week 1. Definitely comes in handy.

I saw something come across around the time of the last APSE convention.

After starting it for baseball, they're now doing it for the NFL and for games involving teams from the BCS conferences (and indies such as Notre Dame). I haven't heard if they're doing the same for college basketball, and I don't think I can see them doing it for the NHL, and probably not the NBA (if they ever return).

So ... are stringers getting paid for this extra work, or is this another unfunded mandate from up on high?
