Any computer whizzes here?

Ok, my laptop refuses to boot up and I can't seem to locate Safe Mode. Sans going to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and spending $100, I'd like to know how to fix it.

First, a little background.

So, my brother was downloading Asian porn tonight from a trusted website which I've used several times before (It's a pay site and I've never had problems with it, so I know it's not a virus).

Computer freezes. He hits ESC. Nothing happens. He hits CTRL+ALT+DEL, chooses to restart it, after 10 minutes nothing happens.

We manually shut it down by pressing down on the power button. It boots back up with the normal TOSHIBA front screen, then goes black. Five minutes go by, it shows "Windows loading files", a quick progress bar goes across and it looks like it's going to open the operating system. Only it never does.

I left it on for a half hour and the cloest I got was the computer loading the mouse icon.

I'm wondering how to go about rebooting the computer so it picks up on the operating system and let's me get things back to normal. I have Vista and couldn't find a safe mode.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As the computer is booting up, hold down the F8 key. That should put it in safe mode.

I'm pretty sure it is. I've been on the site for two months or so and have never experienced any problems.

Of course, that's what I get for letting him download things on my laptop i suppose.
