American Idol 4/24

I didn't think it was Jordin's best, but she is SO the Idol. She's the silhouetted figure holding the mic in the open. She's it.

I wanted Blake to sing "Dare You To Move" -- woulda been perfect for him and the night.

Regarding Richardson: Remember folks, nasally is a style of singing. ;D

Well, I tried to vote all different lines for 15 minutes last night and was only able to register a single vote for Blake.

But she's 29, not that attractive and not that personable.

Age and looks didn't hurt Taylor Hicks, did it?

Never said that things are fair, but that's the way it goes. Plus, Taylor oozed personality.

Ew. There was nothing redeemable about Taylor Hicks. THAT was an act.

I think that he probably was a phony, but he hid it well.

Not to me. "Soul Patrol?" Are you kidding me?

I despised that guy. I would almost, at some points, rather have had McPhee. Her I could just ignore.

YAMIN SHOULD HAVE WON!

My top 6:

1. Jordin - Not because she was the best last night, but because she would be the best Idol of this bunch.
2. Melinda - Great voice, but doesn't have charisma like Jordin.
3. Blake - Fading of late. I had him No. 1 earlier in the competition.
4. Phil - On the rise, will probably get a recording deal out of Nashville.
5. Lakisha - It's clear the judges want her out. Gives off too much diva attitude.
6. Chris - Should have gone before rockergrrl, who belongs in the top 6.

Daughtry was clearly the best last time, as his sales prove. Winning isn't everything. I expect Jordin, Melinda, Blake and Phil to walk away with some kind of contract.

I didn't even watch last season, but I don't know how you can point to sales to say Daughtry should have won. Carrie Underwood had some crazy figure with her album, like fastest-selling debut album of all time or something.

Because Carrie Underwood was two seasons ago?

When doc found out that Jordin sang Liverpool's song, he immediately went to our DVR. Now he's trying to find a good version of them all singing it on youtube. Fanboy looser. :)

I didn't think Jordin was good at all last night. She had a ton of the nervous vibrato/shakiness on notes going on, and the pitch wasn't always exactly there. I love that song, but really don't like it as a pop song either.

Still, she has become the chosen one because of the full package, which is as important as anything on this show.

I just think it's funny that Taylor Hicks appears to be all but forgotten, while Daughtry, Katharine McPhee, Snaggletooth and Kellie Pickler have all released pretty successful albums...

Even Bucky Covington got a good review recently in EW...

OK, that's a good argument. Like I said, I never watched before this year. I guess I just showed my ignorance.

Ha, it's not ignorance. I just took you to say you didn't watch last year, not you hadn't watched at all before. No biggie.

Underwood and Clarkson are the shining Idols.

I heard Bucky Covington's song the other day. For country, it's really not bad. I mean, I thought he couldn't sing worth **** on the show, but I heard the song and thought "this is pretty good" then they announced it was him and I was shocked.

According to dialidol.com, the voting went this way:

1 Jordin Sparks 25.23
-
2-6 (B3) Phil Stacey 21.58
-
2-6 (B3) Lakisha Jones 20.65
-
2-6 (B3) Blake Lewis 20.54
-
2-6 (B3) Melinda Doolittle 20.11
-
2-6 (B3) Chris Richardson 18.1

All but Jordin are within the margin of error of getting voted off.

That's right: Melinda has the second-lowest score.

Me, I'm ready to see Lakisha and Chris go.

I'd like a Jordin-Blake final. Melinda has a great voice, but she never does any songs I like. I can't see any way I'd ever buy her music. Blake and Jordin? I can see buying their stuff. And Phil strikes me as being self-serving and phony.

Seacrest just promised "the most shocking result" in history :-\

Any bets on what this "most shocking results ever" is?

Two people with tied votes? Melinda getting knocked off?
