Verlander didn't make it? Should he have made it?

Any other surprise omissions, inclusions?

As an avowed Twins looser fangirl, I am disgusted that Ivan Rodriguez was named AL starting catcher over Joe Mauer! >:(

But for all the homerheads, Dunn has 26 dingers, roundtrippers, 4-baggers home runs.

I'll repeat the two that got me:

1. Nomar, #2 hitter in the NL, left off.

2. Chris Young, as unhittable as anyone in baseball in the first half, left off.

Chris Young hasn't been media-driven.

Fans in L.A. are blasé. Nomar isn't glitzy in L.A. like he was gritty in Boston. Interesting phenomenon.

I sort of liked the fans' acumen in the NL outfield starters ... until I saw Bay's last month (.222).

I'm told Pittsburgh made a big push for the fans to vote him in.

Mauer not starting is ignorant and is #1 followed by your 2.

BTW They ought to play the All Star games with a DH every year. Having to list David Ortiz as a 1B is laughable.

Even more laughable is the Chisox having two listed reserve first basemen (Konerko, Thome).

No, what's laughable is having to have pitchers bat in a freaking All-Star Game. Ridiculous.

It made me ill to sit there and here all those ESPN talking heads ***** about Beckett, Schilling and Randy Johnson not making it. Yeah, the Red Sox and Yankees really take it up the you-know-what when it comes to honors and attention. Spare me.

Well, aside from average, statswise, the two are pretty equal. Pudge also has a better percentage caught stealing.

I would say yes he should have made it. 10 wins as a rookie puts him either tied for first or second for wins in the AL.

But I'm almost glad he didn't get (as a looser Tigers fanboy). He can rest now and be ready for the second half of the season.

You mean to tell me they complained about the Unit not making it? Oh, my god...

Yup. Although I have no dealings with the organization (prep writer), I wouldn't be surprised if they forced employees to vote during work hours. Is that a common practice?

Bay went from the top-20 to a top vote-getter in a matter of weeks...hmmm. Can't complain about Freddy Sanchez, though (hitting .363, including .491 versus LHP).

How they pick Mark Redman over Liriano is beyond me. Grudzilanek should be KC's lone representative.

Liriano has been the best pitcher in the A.L. this year. Him and Papelbon will go neck and neck for ROY.

These two are in the "fans vote" for the extra roster spot. But they will not get it over Billy Wanger.
