Here's a question. Who's the worst GM of the last five years -- Billy Knight, Isiah Thomas or Rob Babcock? I say Babcock.

I'm not going to get all carried away, but I think a lot of people are underestimating the Cavs AND Wizards. I think keeping Drew Gooden will turn out to be one of the biggest moves in the league this offseason. He played very well last night. The Cavs will finally be consistent this year, which has been an area in which they were lacking.

In the NBA, Gooden still has one major flaw from his Jayhawk days -- rattle him early and he's not a factor the rest of the game. Wilcox swatted two of his shots early in a Final Four loss to Maryland, and Gooden simply decided he couldn't do anything inside from there on out and played more like a guard. When I saw him play a couple times last season, Gooden basically did the same thing.

If Gooden starts fine, no worries. If not, you might as well not count on him.

Oz, excellent points, and I have seen the same thing. ... However, I think that may have changed. He still has time to pove me wrong, obviously, and like I said, I didn't want to get carried away. But I thought he played well in the playoffs, and genuinely wanted to come back to play with LeBron and Hughes.

Like I said, good points, and I definitely could be wrong.

Thing is, last year they would have lost to that lineup. I know they blew a 19 pt lead with some seriously ugly ball, but when's the last time they even had a 19 pt lead? Was it in this millenium?

I was impressed by both Warrick (a real good fantasy pickup if he hits his FT) and Lowry. For the Knicks, I really like Frye and Lee.

I agree with you on Frye and Lee. Those are two impressive young players. Of course, the Knicks are in trouble - any team would be - when you have to rely on Curry and Marbury.

As for Drew Gooden, I think it's a good situation for him. If he puts up 12 and 8, that's all he needs to do. If he drifts out of the game mentally, the Cavs can throw Varajeo (sp.?) in down the stretch. It was a good re-sign, I thought, and he always seems to play hard.

Simmons (I know, I know) had the Wizards as third in the East, and I think they're closer to third than they are to eighth. Haywood/Thomas provide just enough defense for that team, I think, and Daniels and Javis Hayes can defend on the perimeter.

Last season (without Jarvis Hayes), no team had a worse bench than Washington. This season, very few teams have a worse bench than Washington. One injury to a top eight player, they are back to the worst.

Not a fair comparison. Billy and Isiah have had multiple seasons to get things right. Rob got canned after one and a half.

I would say Isiah. I know it seems like piling on, but the team he's assembled for the price he's assembled it is a shambles. So many players who seem exactly alike.

andrew bynum's performances continue to be shocking. with him and dwight howard rapidly improving -- and greg oden on the horizon -- perhaps we haven't seen the last of the great big men/dominant low-post scorers.

hopefully in a few months, he'll be back to his old self. but who knows?
