GOAT?

I still can’t believe NBC would nudge him out for the Mike Greenberg of play by play announcers. Yes, I know it’s been rumored for months.

Did they announce it during the pregame?
I noticed when they shifted into game mode he welcomed Colinsworth in "for the last time."

I saw Al Michaels-Sean McVay floated for Monday Night Football. If I’m ESPN I make that move in a nanosecond. I didn’t mind their booth this year, but you jump at the chance to get Al Michaels.

Sean Payton?

With the way NBC has operated in the past, they might move to Tirico into the SNF spot and then decided to air a game right before and have Michaels call that one.

Now that I think of it, there are quite a few similarities.

"Beckham was shown the door in Cleveland ... Basically told, get out of here."

Al must have had lunch with OBJ Sr. yesterday

Al is the damn best. And this clearly is it for him at the colored feathers. Which sucks. But NBC has a long history of f***ing up things like this. His voice is still golden. He's still got his fastball. All because you brought in Tirico from the Mothership a few years ago and you have to put him in the SNF chair? Ridiculous.

Al will go to Amazon or the Mothership and still call games. And it will be NBC's loss. F them.

As for being the GOAT? Damn, he's right there. So versatile. Called so many great games. The gambling references. If he's not, he's top three.

What amazes me is that Al’s 77 and still throwing 94 with movement.

And NBC says .... we don't want that. F them.

Al was on DP this week and in earlier interviews, he's played coy about what happens beyond tonight. Same with Aikman. They all know.

As of now, Al's got a great game going. Hopefully, he's got an F-U to the colored feathers as he signs off.

Dumb for NBC not to do everything within its resources and limits to keep Al Michaels.

Even dumber to do so to put Mike Tirico in any seat of consequence.

Going out of your way to sign Tirico away from the WWL, especially given his personal background, was not only dumb, but could/should also considered a fireable offense. Then you're going to exacerbate that egregious error by moving Michaels aside to do so?

It takes effort to be this stupid. Yet NBC finds a way to do so effortlessly.

To be fair to NBC, when it goes, it goes fast.

Keith Jackson went from the best to missing the fact the ball had been fumbled 10 seconds earlier and kept announcing the play as if it never happened.

Al is NOWHERE near where K.J. was at the end. And Uncle Verne knew when to hit the front porch in Steamboat. If you are watching/listening to this broadcast, you cannot say the same for Al. He's firing on all cylinders.
