Dude I used to tune into Coast to Coast when I'd get off of work around midnight to 1 a.m. Most of the time it was benign but there was something about the listening when I was dead tired with all those damn conspiracies it would make me so f-ing paranoid.

I listened driving back from road games and would get freaked by the UFO talk when I was in BFE on a two-lane state highway. I tuned in a few months ago and it was all Jade Helm, secret UN treaties and InfoWars-ish. I was hoping for Bigfoot, UFOs and that stuff.

Precisely. Does the state of Texas still think this is an awesome idea? Sure, anybody who wants to carry a gun to campus and shoot a professor with whom he has a beef can do it. But having possession codified and legal makes it acceptable to take it on campus; a ban may deter those in a moment of rage from going to the trouble.
And that permission means we'll almost certainly see this sort of thing repeated.

Sad this professor had to die. Seems fated the student would have died eventually in some asshole manner. Shooting someone over a grade? Yeah, your priorities are in ****ing order.

I'm kind of surprised this kind of thing doesn't happen more often. College can be a pressure cooker for these high achievers, especially in a time in which a "B" is seen as an abject failure.

Once, in one of my nighttime MBA classes, I had an Indian student come to me after a class. It was late, the floor my office is on was empty, etc., etc., so it was kinda creepy. The student wanted to talk to me about the exam from the previous week. He then proceeded to tell me about this prophylactic treatment for tuberculosis he was being required to undergo. I was thinking, "OK, what does this have to do with last week's test?" Well, per him one of the side effects of the treatment was that he sometimes "heard voices," and during the exam that had been the case. Part of me chuckled and thought, "Well, these voices, they don't appear to know **** about so-and-so." But a much larger part said, "Hmmmm, let's get this young man the hell out of my office." Thus began my ritual of NEVER: A) going to my office immediately after the end of a night class; or B) being around my office more than the absolute minimum during finals week(s).

Shooter was officially identified as this guy not too long ago. Name was floating around last night. I became more interested because his workplace is listed as being in my little rinky-dink hometown, nowhere near UCLA or California.

Hell. If you punch the professor and he defends himself, now you're *allowed* to shoot him.
