Tessio doesn't have to get in the car just yet.

Happy 86th Birthday, Detective Fish

People have assumed he's dead for about 25 years. I was a little afraid when I clicked on the thread title.

The scene with him and Duvall at the end of I is a classic.

Tessio: can you get me off the hook? For old times sake?

Tom: can't do it, Sally.

Me too. Definitely one of the best dead-pan comedians ever.

Great to know Tessio does NOT sleep with the fishes. But he did sell out to Barzini.

He's on Conan O'Brien's show all the time. Always making fun of himself and his age and the fact that he's not yet dead, which is cool. A few years ago, when Duvall was a guest, they did another version of that scene from Godfather. Funny stuff.

In the late 70s I had a crush on Lynda Carter (aka Wonder Woman).

When her show was taken off the air it was replaced by . . . Fish.

I always held a grudge against Abe Vigoda for that.

Yeah, it's a funny bit.

Abe Vigoda was funny on Barney Miller. Fish was a sappy bit of tripe mainly focused on the wife and kids (tho it was gutsy for a TV show to make Bernice, the wife, that unattractive)

Hey, Chris, you and I are up to 10 things we agree on now.

Barney: Harris, go home and stay there until you feel better.
Harris: I'll go home but I ain't never gonna feel better.
And, lest we forget Jack Soo:

"Barney, Barney, Barney, was your mother from Killarney?"

Barney: How many of those did you have?

Jack Soo: [uses his finger to indicate Barney should come closer and then whispers] Mushi, mushi, mushi.

If I'm not mistaken, Wojo also ate the brownies. I believe his girl made it for them.

I remember that Todd Bridges, pre-Diff'rent Strokes, played one of the foster kids.

And my favourite Jack Soo moment came when someone complained that Yemana was squinting at him. Yemana says, "that wasn't squinting. This" -- his facial expression does not change -- "is squinting." ;D

That was when ABC was kicking everyone's ass. Now, everyone is kicking ABC's ass.

Concur. And it's the only funny sitcom bit in television history that makes my mother, whenever it gets mentioned, laugh so hard she starts to cry. She otherwise has absolutely no sense of humor.

You have to be there. :D
