On the men's ballot, Manu seems like a shoo-in, between the NBA championships, the Olympic gold and stellar all-around play. The other prominent first time nominee, Tom Chambers, strikes me as a Hall of Very Good guy - couple all-star appearances, best PER in a season was 20.1. Tim Hardaway has a similar profile, so he'd probably be a "no" to me as well. Shawn Marion has a better case than those two, but I lean more "no" than "yes" on him.

The players group is such a grab-bag that it's going to be Manu and any combo for two or three. I assume Hardaway, Billups and some rando all-timer.

I doubt they go heavy on coaches to make up for it, but they have plenty in that category I almost hope they do so they don't water down the players side, as watered down as the Basketball Hall already is.

My very cursory experiences with him made me not like him. But he seems to be a very love him or hate him sort of fellow. Very Bobby Knight-esque in that respect.

His complete dismissal of smaller programs in his region doesn’t ingratiate him to me personally, either. Such a big man ****ting on Marshall and Ohio. Not a great look.
