I've been saying that, on this board in fact, for many years.I liked Rock's point that there really is no need for Male and Female categories. It's not Track and Field, it's acting. BUt his logical point and the one he made in jest is that there should be Black categories, which was intended to be ridiculous. But it's a fair point about gender ( or is it sex).
I once had a boss who was infatuated with Lena Olin, but he didn't have a wire story about her that week, so he had someone write it directly from a feature spread in People magazine. Used all the quotes, too. Every one.I read a bylined story in a Pulitzer-winning paper's website citing "reports that Abe Vigoda was omitted from the In Memoriam segment" - all it was based off of were Tweets.
