2015 SEC Media Days

Yep, it's football season. This year SEC Media Days is seven weeks before the first games (depending on when your team plays, etc.), but it's football season.

Too early? I don't think anyone outside of those broadcasting it would argue. Also too hot as it's going to be 100 degrees in Birmingham all week.

The difference between mid-July and mid-August in Birmingham is like comparing surface temperatures of Mercury and Venus. It's hot no matter when you do it. And it's not like they're holding this thing in a parking lot.

As for being early? Probably. Considering the deadline for our football preview issue is Aug. 1, however, I'm not complaining too much. It'll help a lot of people get material for those sorts of stories.

Mississippi State's Dan Mullen totally dodges the Confederate flag issue.

“That's a lot for people in Jackson and for the people in Mississippi. I know -- I don't see it very often. We don't have it on our campus up. I do know we're the most diverse campus in the Southeastern Conference. I know the university embraces that diversity as a whole. I certainly embrace that diversity. We're so diverse, they have a Yankee as the head football coach in the Southeastern Conference.

“I think it's something that on a national level is getting an awful lot of attention right now, that people are really looking into how we can make things better in the state of Mississippi. And I hope as a university we're out on the forefront trying to help make things better with the type of school that we have and the diversity we have in our school.”
