Burnett's outing was about as bad as TBS broadcasting Major League Baseball. Both brutal.

Carlos Beltran: 15 HR in 34 playoff games (14 wild card & division playoff games; 20 LCS games)

Babe Ruth: 15 HR in 41 World Series games.

Serious question: Is Beltran's accomplishment as impressive?

Tough question. Beltran has the same number of homers in fewer games — but he has more chances with divisional and championship rounds.

As far as a historical achievement in comparison to guys who played in the pre-divisional era? It's apples and anvils.

I do think we've had three rounds of playoffs long enough that you can consider post-1995 records to be legitimate "postseason" records, and I'm OK with listing those.

But you can't compare them to World Series-only records. Beltran didn't tie Babe Ruth's postseason HR mark today. Ruth didn't have a "postseason."

Seriously, when Kershaw and Greinke pitch like they're capable and Ryu does his thing, how can anybody beat the Dodgers in a playoff series? Bet on the Dodgers to win it all now. Easiest money you'll ever make.

On that Giants-Dodgers fan brawl ... the killer says he was acting in self-defense after the victim swung a chair at his head, and police and the DA have not filed any charges. They're supposedly looking for independent witnesses, but it doesn't look like there is much of a case.

The victim's brother talked to a local TV station and said the victim didn't swing the chair -- because he, the brother, was the one doing that. Also adds, "I want the kid that took my brother from me so soon to be behind bars."

I'm sure he will be feeling plenty of guilt over the remainder of his life, but what a dumb****.

Not a lot, but this is the running baseball thread that's going. Seems like Regular Season thread went away when regular season ended, and that's where we were talking about the case a month ago. Doesn't seem worthy of its own thread.
