48 hours ahead of Los Angeles' version of the Super Bowl, and we know a few things.

1. It's going to be butt-cold on the red carpet. There's talk of snow on the Hollywood sign coming overnight; while that won't happen (most likely), it's going to be about 48 or so degrees during the red carpet on Sunday.

2. The media will care a helluva lot more than the public will about "the question everyone's asking" (according to one news tease I just saw): Will Banksy show? If you don't know who Banksy is, well, consider yourself squarely in the American mainstream. As for me, I know who he is, and I wish he was in jail along with the rest of the so-called artists who are destroying America's cities, one pen and paint tag at a time.

3. A whole slew of show spoilers was released today by Nikki Finke. I like to be surprised, so I didn't read them. If you want to, you can, here:

C'mon now. This is just stupid.

Also, most of Bansky's best work has been done 'destroying' British cities.

Sorry to offend your liberal mores (which I would usually share) but private property is private property.

Ah, yes...but he has also done pieces with permission and has commissioned traditional art.

Yep. And bank robbers sometimes have their own ATM cards and legally withdraw money.

I hope Banksy shows, but only if he is wearing a monkey mask.

Re: 2011 Oscars running thread, aka "Will Banksy show?"

I suspect it will be a moot point. Enough people are unconvinced about the authenticity of the documentary that he isn't going to win.

Re: 2011 Oscars running thread, aka "Will Banksy show?"

"Authenticity?"

The whole movie's a put-on.

Right. That is why I'm saying I don't think it's going to win.

EDIT: What I'm saying is that even the "put on" is a staged "put on."

Re: 2011 Oscars running thread, aka "Will Banksy show?"

Not exactly-it covers a history of street art, and then shows a social experiment that proves that if there's enough hype around something, people will pay obscene amounts of money for it.

So by that standard, yes, it's a documentary.

Re: 2011 Oscars running thread, aka "Will Banksy show?"

It has little about the "history of street art," and to call is a documentary is stretching the truth quite a bit. How a film like this can get nominated and lauded, while "Catfish" is derided as fake ... well, that is at best confusing and at worst unfair.

There is considerable buzz that the social experiment was a put-on.

Re: 2011 Oscars running thread, aka "Will Banksy show?"

If the Banksy documentary is a hoax, then he completely destroyed the credibility of the art industry in which he's made a tremendous amount of money from.

Whether it was a hoax or not, the film is incredibly entertaining.

As for his unspeakable acts, it's pretty impressive that Banksy is such a huge name in the art world that when he does tag a building, it makes the property value of the building go up.

And I suspect the tagging in Oceanside is fake. And great for the taco shop's business.

Oh yeah, and there's no chance in hell that Banksy outs himself at the Academy Awards.

I like watching the preview stuff on E! before the red carpet show. (They talk about all sorts of stuff, like what meal they serve and the place settings and jewelry.) They currently have a Disney fashion show by Kenley from Project Runway on. I want to throw something at my TV.

Could Charlie Sheen Crash Oscars With Porn Star Pals?

By Meaghan Murphy

Published February 26, 2011

Charlie Sheen may have never won an Oscar, but what are the odds that he and his two sexy young "goddess" friends will attend Hollywood’s most prestigious award show Sunday night?

"He is the last person the Academy would want there right now," veteran Beverly Hills publicist Ed Lozzi tells FOX411. "Not just because of the scandal, but because it would be seen as a blatant publicity stunt, which the Academy doesn't need. They have more to get over on that night than Charlie Sheen."

Sheen, who has been busy "having a ball" with porn star Bree Olsen and ex-nanny Natalie Kenly on a private island in the Bahamas, has concerned fans with his erratic behavior in recent days. Sheen has blasted producer Chuck Lorre in several rants, calling him — among other things — a "clown" and a "turd."

The "Two and a Half Men" star, who claims to be "100 percent sober," would make a lot of heads turn if he decided to crash the Oscars Sunday night, arriving with Olson and Kenly on each arm — but that's a very unlikely photo op.

If Sheen decides to ignore all advice and common sense and attempts to crash the Oscars with his new lady friends, he still has plenty of time to get back to L.A. in time for the Oscars.

"Firing up a jet from the Bahamas to L.A. is easy. It's about five-and-a-half hours of flying nonstop," travel expert Tom Botts, Managing Partner of Hudson Crossing, tells FOX411. "I'm sure Charlie owns his own jet, but for anyone else, you could figure on at least $5,000 per hour of flying at the very minimum. A customer could be lifting off in a couple of hours after slapping their Platinum Amex down with a charter company!"

You can't just crash the Oscars. Doesn't matter who you are. That Sheen story is ridiculous.
