So I'm filling out my fantasy team for the 2010 Winter games and I'm stuck on the Women's Biathalon. I clearly have to go with Helena Jonsson (Sweden) but I need a second,Kati Wilhelm (Germany) or Olga Medvedtseva (Russia)

I see the "Lindsey Vonn is the Michael Phelps of the Winter Games!" storyline has already been derailed now that she has some deep shin bruise. Oops. Somewhere, **** Ebersol poured himself another double of 50-year-old Macallan.

What event is Vonn in. I've never heard of her. Surprised they have not done more to promote her if she is the Bodie Miller of these games? ::)

I think she hurt her shin during the SI Swimsuit issue photo shoot. [/crossthreading]

Seeing as how I live on the west coast of the United States, I'll post on this thread three hours after the rest of the country.

No way. Bode didn't care in Torino. He admitted all he wanted to do was drink and pary. Vonn cares. She may not win five golds (my prediction is two golds, one bronze), but it won't be because she doesn't care.

I already have Lindsay Vonn burnout. This is a dream for the Ebersole Olympics. The drama has started. Will Lindsay be able to compete. I don't know if I am going to make it till Wednesday.

Are these sporting events or some sort of bastardized version of Friday Night Lights that happens with sports none of us even know how to score every four years?

Surely you know how to score the biathlon

Oh, and for Yanks living on the border--TSN and CTV's coverage will kick NBC's ass. You just have to put up with Canadian homerism for a change.

I am really anti-gun, but there is something kind of hot about a German women who can shoot a rifle.

To hell with German women.

Quebec's Myriam Bedard won two gold medals in Lillehammer for shootin' & skiin'

Two skills that helped her evade the U.S. Marshals for as long as she did, I'm sure.
Forgot about that child custody spat with the child's father.

Remember seeing an interview with her--maybe it was Mansbridge a---and thought, "Wow, intense doesn't begin to describe her".

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – A female Russian hockey player was reprimanded Thursday but escaped a ban after testing positive for a stimulant in the first doping violation of the Vancouver Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee said Svetlana Terenteva tested positive Saturday for a "light stimulant" contained in a prescription cold medication. The substance — tuaminoheptane — is banned during competition but not out of competition. It is found in inhalers and nasal sprays.

Terenteva, a 26-year-old forward who has played in four world championships, told the IOC she used the drug Rhinofluimucil in Russia to treat a cold last month. She said she stopped using the medication when she arrived in Vancouver on Feb. 3, a day before the Olympic drug-testing program began.

Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, of the Republic of Georgia died after a luge accident. Wrecked at estimated speed of close to 90 mph. Lost control and flipped into a metal pole.

Don't get TSN/CTV here. LOVED CBC's Oly coverage, summer or winter. Whichever US network rights-holder was rarely, if ever, on in our household. I like actually watching LIVE events happen, y'know, LIVE.
