A young guy on our staff is a big Braves fan. His nice supervisor gave him yesterday off to go to the game.
Damn did I have fun at work today.

I've never seen this before. Crisp flies out for the apparent third out of the ninth to end the game and everybody thinks the game is over, but the ump had called a balk on B.J. Ryan. Everybody is called back onto the field and the Red Sox actually get the tying run to the plate before the game ended.

HB, the Mets can't promote Gary Carter since he's not in the organization anymore. I hope you all realize there are no obvious choices to replace Randolph right now.

And I may be crazy -- I realize that -- but I'm trying to figure out how it's the manager's fault that Moises Alou, Orlando Hernandez, Pedro Martinez and, yes, Carlos Delgado are all older than dirt, and can't play anymore. When does the general manager take some heat, too?

If you want to get rid of both of them, fine, but the Wilpons still love Omar and I find that difficult to understand.

Serious question: What level of the minors is that?

If you're at the lower rungs of the minors, your wins and losses should not be the first indicator of whether you're doing your job as a manager. It should be whether you have developed the players under your watch to the best of their ability.

I'd rather have a low Class A team finish last but furnish me five major league players who are ready to play at the next level than have a first-place team that can't develop so much as a utility infielder.
