Gagne has been less than stellar this season, but Wood has blown two saves against the Brewers and the Cubs ended up losing both. Gagne has blown four saves overall, but the Brewers have lost just one of the games.

He's only blown one save against the Brewers. The other one was on Opening Day and it wasn't a save situation. They were tied 0-0 to start the ninth when he came in.

They did wind up winning the other two games he did blow though.

It's impossible to blow a save. If you have a save, the game is over. You can only blow a save opportunity. I know the term "blown save" is accepted, but it still bugs me.

I'm not debating that. But he did give up three runs in a situation where he's expected to give up none and the three runs he gave up turned out to be big as Fukudome's 3-run homer in the bottom of the inning only tied the game, it didn't end it in a game the Brewers ultimately won.

All I'm sayin'.

Does anyone know what happened to BJ Upton? Yahoo! just says he left with an apparent left shoulder injury.

He's tweaked it similarly to a couple of years ago. Back then he only missed three games, and the Rays are going to keep him day-to-day and monitor him.

He says he should be fine, it doesn't hurt as badly as it did last time around.

Knight surprised me. I hate him on the pre-game but he did a fairly solid job as analyst if you overlook too many "we's." Had Cordero pegged from the first pitch and didn't let up. It was good stuff.

And, to give you MORE ****: I prefer to think of them as 5-1 since last Thursday. That's 2-1 vs. Cubs, 2-0 vs. Braves and 1-0 vs. Pirates.

They've talked for a while about "3-1 since this" or "8-2 since this" and the point was made that xx-xx since the season started is all that ends up mattering. So the 1-0 was kind of a goof on themselves.

But the fact does remain: They are 1-0 in May. Unbeaten.
