Feel like we should separate the majors out from the regular golf thread.

Starts in the wee hours tomorrow Stateside at Royal Liverpool. Game 1 features Matthew Jordan, Richie Ramsay and Branden Grace at 1:35 a.m. EDT.

Some odds:
Rory +525
Scottie +750
Rahm and Rickie +1200
Fleetwood, Hovland, Cam Smith +1500
Schauffele and Hatton +2500

Below that, give me a taste on Jason Day at +6500 and maybe even a little Denny McCarthy at +8500, though I suspect Denny would **** down his leg if he was anywhere near the lead at the end.

I think a single starter actually works all 52 starting times, which is insane. That's a nice 10-hour shift there.

Cheers, mates.

Love the Open. Love everyone goes off on 1 instead of split tees.

And the longtime starter, Ivor Robson, took no bathroom breaks, drank no water and ate no food.

They replaced him with a robot.

I miss the guy, and not just because he was a really easy impression.

"Now on the tee, from USA, Tiger Woods!"

If those are your best odds, you need a new bookie!

I see on DraftKings that Scottie is now the favorite at +700 and Rory at +800. Hovland at +2200 had my attention.

That new little par-3 17 looks like it could be fun in the wind.

Quite honestly I just looked at the first thing that came up on Google, which was CBS.

When I wake up in the morning, I'll be wondering if Koepka hasn't taken out Cantlay yet.

It's nothing sacred. They have a lot more daylight. That's the only reason. If the tournament was played at our latitudes, it would be two-tee start.

Really?? I had no idea.

Thank you Captain Obvious.

But the U.S. Open pre-21st century (well, pre-2002) would not dare do split tees.

Stewart Cink shoots -3 68 in the first round. Am I imagining things or is he always near the top of early Open leaderboards?

Georgia Tech at the top of the leaderboard! Lamprecht at 5 under, Cink at 3.

J.T., already at plus-7, makes a quad on 18.

He has been a mess since winning the PGA last year.

JT was +150 to miss the cut, even as deep in the wilderness as he's been. Lost opportunity to make a couple of mortgage payments.

This is borderline unwatchable with all the commercials. Horrible.

Complaining about commercials in golf is shooting fish in a barrel at this point. What bothered me today is that the breaks were so clunky. Guy blows a putt six feet past the hole, they bail for commercial without a word and don't cover it when back. Maybe it was my streaming but doubt it.

NBC has turned more favorite event of the year to watch into a debacle.
At 5:30 this morning my time, your commentators were Sands (who is just this side of awful as pxp), Faxon, and Curt Byrum, who was still in the U.S.
No one on the course and one person doing the holes.
For as much as ESPN has dicked up a lot of things, they got this right.
Everyone and their dog came over.

Then they drug Alliss (RIP) out from his stool in the BBC lounge for an hour or two.
